OFFICE/HOTEL

o    Various Office Buildings, Atlantic Station, Atlanta, GA, Performed geotechnical investigations for several mid and high-rise structures at site of former 155-acre Atlantic Steel production facility in midtown Atlanta. Recommendations for site grading in extensive areas of existing slag waste, foundation design, below grade basement and retaining structures in existing fill, slag, soil and bedrock were provided. Foundation options included high capacity micropiles, drilled piers and augercast piles.

o    NCR Headquarters, Atlanta, GA. Geotechnical Engineer of Record for design of a new corporate headquarters for NCR including the construction of a 35-story and 20-story tower and associated parking decks. Foundation recommendations included augercast piles and anchors for shallow rock conditions in some areas of the site. Retaining structure recommendations were also required.

o    TBS Tower, Atlanta, GA. Performed geotechnical exploration for a 27-story office building at the site of an existing parking deck located at Marietta Street and Centennial Olympic Park Drive.  The existing deck was built during construction of Philips Arena. Responsible for the geotechnical exploration for the parking deck as well as part of the Arena Area Public Improvements that included other explorations in the immediate vicinity. Recommendations for deep foundation design and retaining structure design were provided

o    Total System Services - Riverfront Corporate Campus, Columbus GA. Performed geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing and inspection for a riverfront corporate campus of Total System Services, Inc. (TSYS), which encompasses one million square feet on 50 acres along the Chattahoochee River. Responsible for the geotechnical investigation and construction phase services including construction inspection and materials testing in a challenging geologic region

o    U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Various Office Projects, Roybal Campus, Decatur, GA. Geotechnical Engineer of record for the design of multiple buildings on the Emory area campus including the Visitor’s Center and parking deck, Buildings 20, 23, and 24. Buildings varied from four to 20+ stories and included below grade retaining structures, tunnels, and new parking decks. Foundation systems included shallow spread footings on soil and rock as well as augercast piles and drilled piers.

o    OMNI Hotel, Atlanta, GA.  Project involved the design of a 34-story hotel adjacent to the College Football Hall of Fame. Deep bedrock necessitated the use of augercast piles for foundation support. Analysis for foundation capacity, lateral earth pressures on below grade elements, settlement and slab support was conducted.

o    3630 Peachtree Road Holdings Limited Partnership, High-Rise Towers, Atlanta, GA. Project included two 30-story multi-use towers as well as two, six to nine-story parking structures.  Due to the highly variable subsurface conditions and different finished floor elevations, the structures were designed to be supported on multiple foundation types including augercast piles, drilled piers, and rock supported shallow footings.  Analysis for foundation capacity, lateral earth pressures on below grade elements, settlement and slab support was conducted.

o    Ritz Carlton Hotel – San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Project Manager and geotechnical consultant for the foundation design of a new luxury hotel on Isla Verde beach.  Project involved the design of a driven concrete pile foundation including the development of axial, tensile and lateral pile capacities.  A load test program was also developed and implemented to verify design calculations and resulted in a value engineering foundation modification.  Materials testing of concrete, post-tensioning, masonry and soils was also performed during construction of the hotel complex.
